BP p.l.c. announces that on 17 July 2008, it purchased for cancellation 1,500,000 ordinary shares at prices between 503.75 pence and 522.00 pence per share.

Following the above transaction BP p.l.c. holds 1,904,969,556 ordinary shares in Treasury, and has 18,788,912,647 ordinary shares in issue (excluding Treasury shares).
