                    Swallowfield plc - Board Appointments                     

Swallowfield plc is pleased to confirm the appointment of Brian Williamson as
Group Manufacturing Director with effect from 25 January 2000.  He will report
directly to Tony Wardell, Group Managing Director, and play a key role in
improving service levels and customer confidence to ensure the Company's
future growth.

Brian is 42 years of age with a degree in Engineering from Cambridge and has
recently been responsible for aerosol can manufacturing across Europe on
behalf of the Crown Cork Company.  There are no details to be disclosed under
paragraph 16.4 of the listing rules. 

As previously announced, Tony Dowsett currently Group Operations Director will
leave the Company on 1 February 2000 after 25 years with the business.

Current trading continues to be in line with expectations and the improving
levels of business which on 13 December the Company announced it was
experiencing is continuing into the New Year, particularly in the Aerosols
business.
