Swallowfield plc
Directorate Changes
Following our announcements on 20 December 2005 and 3 January 2006, Swallowfield
plc would like to confirm a further stage in its reorganisation and
rationalisation plans.
I am pleased to announce that with effect from 1 March 2006 Mr Ian Mackinnon,
currently Group Finance Director, will become the Chief Executive Officer of the
Company and the Company will recruit a new Finance Director externally.
Ian Mackinnon joined Swallowfield in January 2000 and during the last 6 years
has developed a strong understanding of the business and of what is required to
revitalise the Company. He will succeed Mr Tony Wardell who, after a total of
42 years with the business, will step down as Chief Executive. I would like to
take the opportunity to express our appreciation to Tony for his enormous
contribution and personal dedication to the Company over these years.
Mr. Wardell will be appointed a non-executive Director of Swallowfield with
effect from 1 March. In addition to these responsibilities, Tony will use his
considerable knowledge of the marketplace and the industry to support Ian and
the other directors in a number of specific projects in product and market
development.
Having overseen the reorganisation plan, the restructuring of the Board, and
confident that the new Board has the right blend of skills and experience to
lead the company into the future, I shall be retiring on 1 March 2006. Mrs.
Shena Winning, currently a non-executive director and chairman of the audit
committee, will become chairman of the board.
Shena Winning, a Chartered Accountant, joined Swallowfield in 2003 after a
career in the retail industry, most recently as Finance Director of Carpetright
plc, a FTSE 250 business. With her strong retail and financial background I
have every confidence that she will be an outstanding chairman.
I would like to wish Ian Mackinnon, Shena Winning and Tony Wardell every success
in their new roles.
