DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING

The Company was notified by the independent trustee of the British American
Tobacco Group Employee Trust on 3 November 2006 that, in connection with the
Director/PDMR Shareholding announcement made by the Company on 18 October 2006
(the "Announcement"), due to an administrative error, the total number of
British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") released to
participants in the Deferred Share Bonus Scheme (the "Scheme") on 17 October
2006 was overstated.  The total number of Shares released to participants in the
Scheme was 4,254, instead of 4,290 Shares as stated in the Announcement.

As a result of this revision, the independent trustee of the British American
Tobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 19,595,754 Shares.
