DIRECTOR/PDMR SHAREHOLDING

The Company was notified on 4 July 2006 that on 3 July 2005 Mr N R Withington
acquired 135 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p Ordinary Shares (the "Shares")
at a price of 1363p per Share as a result of the quarterly reinvestment of
income by his ISA Manager.

Following this transaction, Mr Withington has a total beneficial and family
interest in 76,123 Shares (including 35,974 Deferred Shares).
