RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS


Notification made in accordance with Section 324 (as extended by Section 328) of
the Companies Act 1985 and Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the Disclosure Rules
sourcebook.


The independent Trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trust
notified the Company on 19 March 2007 that it had on 19 March 2007 released
1,318,130 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") to
participants in the British American Tobacco Long Term Incentive Plan.  Of these
Shares, a total of 466,476 Shares were released to the following executive
directors and other persons discharging managerial responsibility (together "the
Participants") as follows:
