NOTIFICATION OF TRANSACTIONS OF DIRECTORS, PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL
RESPONSIBILITY OR CONNECTED PERSONS


Notification made in accordance with Section 324 (as extended by Section 328) of
the Companies Act 1985 and Disclosure Rule 3.1.4R(1)(a) of the Disclosure Rules
sourcebook.

The independent Trustee of the British American Tobacco Group Employee Trust
notified the Company on 20 March 2007 that it had on 19 March 2007 released
556,960 British American Tobacco p.l.c. 25p ordinary shares (the "Shares") to
participants in the British American Tobacco Deferred Share Bonus Scheme.  Of
these Shares, a total of 218,592 Shares were released to the following executive
directors and other persons discharging managerial responsibility (together "the
Participants") as follows:

Following these transactions, the independent trustee of the British American
Tobacco Group Employee Trust holds a total of 17,128,154 Shares.
