DIRECTORS' SHAREHOLDINGS


The Company was notified on 2 June 2005 by the trustee of the British American
Tobacco Employee Share Ownership Plan that on 1 June 2005 the following
directors had purchased ordinary shares of 25p each in British American Tobacco
p.l.c. (the "Shares") by way of the Partnership Share Scheme at a price of 1051p
per Share.
