British American Tobacco Announces Board Appointment

Dr Marion Helmes will join the Board of British American Tobacco as a Non-Executive Director with effect from 1 August 2016. Dr Helmes brings significant financial expertise and operational experience gained at an international level.

During her extensive career, Dr Helmes has worked in several CFO positions including Celesio, Q-Cells and ThyssenKrupp Elevator Technology. Dr Helmes also sits on the audit committees for the three companies where she has non-executive director roles - NXP, ProSiebenSat.1 Media and Bilfinger.

Dr Helmes is a German national and has spent her working life managing businesses across Europe, the Americas and Asia.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman, Richard Burrows said: "We are looking forward to welcoming Dr Helmes to the Board of British American Tobacco. Her financial expertise combined with the experience she can bring from other audit committees will further strengthen our Company and our Board."
