dated 3 November 2004 received on 5 November 2004, that Barclays PLC, as at 2
November 2004 has a notifiable interest, for the purposes of Part VI of the
Companies Act 1985, in 64,766,916 ordinary shares of 25p each in British
American Tobacco p.l.c. representing 3.01% of the Company's issued ordinary
share capital.
