The British Land Company PLC is pleased to announce the appointment, with immediate effect, of John Gildersleeve as Senior Independent Director in succession to Robert Swannell, following Mr Swannell's retirement from the Board last month.

 Mr Gildersleeve joined British Land as a non-executive director in September 2008 and is a member of the Remuneration Committee. He is Chairman of New Look PLC, Senior Independent Director at TalkTalk Telecom Group PLC and Deputy Chairman of Carphone Warehouse Group PLC.
