The British Land Company PLC announces that it received notification on 21st
February 2006 from Sir John Ritblat, a director of the Company, of the following
transaction in the Company's ordinary shares of 25p:


On 21st February 2006, the John Ritblat Charitable Trust No 1. sold 40,000
shares at £11.98 each, and 38,000 shares at £11.95 each. Sir John has an
interest, as a trustee, in shares held, and dealings undertaken, by this Trust.
