Appointment of non-executive director

The Board of British Smaller Companies VCT2 plc (the "Company") is pleased to announce the appointment of Roger McDowell as an independent non-executive director with effect from 6 March 2019.

Roger has considerable experience as a Chairman and non-executive director of a wide range of technology, business services and manufacturing businesses. Following the flotation of his family's business and subsequent trade sale, he began his plural career in 2000, when he took board roles in three private equity backed technology businesses.

Roger's current portfolio includes Chairmanships of Avingtrans Plc and Hargreaves Services Plc and non-executive Directorships of Tribal Group Plc, D4t4 Solutions Plc, Proteome Sciences Plc, Augean Plc and Swallowfield Plc. Previously he was Senior Independent Director of the listed UK based technology Servelec. Roger is Chair of the audit committee at Tribal and Proteome Sciences.

Through his achievements Roger has gained considerable trust in the City and is highly regarded by shareholders for his record of investment returns. He won The Sunday Times AIM Non-executive Director of the Year award in 2017 for his Chairmanship of Avingtrans Plc, a precision engineering business. Taking the role when the business was in a challenging position, he and his team increased market cap seven-fold, and the judges also complimented him on his wide-ranging CV, strong experience and progressive view on governance issues. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the Company.

There are no details in respect of Mr McDowell requiring disclosure under paragraphs 9.6.13R (1) to (6) of the Listing Rules.
