                    BELLSOUTH BOARD OF DIRECTORS
                    DECLARES 67TH QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

ATLANTA - September 25, 2000 - BellSouth Corporation (NYSE:BLS), one of the most
widely held companies in that nation, declared a regular quarterly dividend of
$0.19 per common share.

The dividend is payable November 1, 2000 to shareholders of record on October
12.

This is the 67th consecutive quarterly dividend declared by BellSouth since its
formation in 1984.  As of June 30, the company has nearly 1.9 billion shares
outstanding in approximately one million registered shareholder accounts.

BellSouth is a communications services company with more than $26 billion in
annual revenues.  It provides telecommunications services, Internet, data and
e>commerce applications, wireless communications, entertainment services, and
online and directory advertising to more than 40 million customers in 18
countries worldwide.
