                        BELLSOUTH BOARD OF DIRECTORS
                        DECLARES QUARTERLY DIVIDEND

ATLANTA - June 27, 2000 - BellSouth Corporation (NSYE: BLS), one of the most
widely held companies in the nation, today declared a regular quarterly dividend
of $0.19 per common share.

The dividend is payable August 1, 2000 to shareholders of record on July 13.

This is the 66th consecutive quarterly dividend declared by BellSouth since its
formation in 1984.  As of March 31, the company has nearly 1.9 billion shares
outstanding in approximately one million registered shareholders accounts.

billion in annual revenues.  It provides telecommunications services, Internet,
data and e-commerce applications, wireless communications, entertainment
