Lynn Wentworth named vice president and treasurer
Harty to resign from BellSouth
June 24, 2003 - BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS) today announced that Lynn
Wentworth, currently assistant vice president - Finance, Accounts Receivable
Management, has been promoted to vice president and treasurer and elected as an
officer of the corporation. Wentworth will also serve as president - BellSouth
Affiliate Services Corp (BASC).
In her current position, Wentworth is responsible for credit policy and
collections operations for all of BellSouth's operating units. She will maintain
responsibility for these operations in addition to her new responsibilities,
which include corporate finance, trust asset management, domestic and
international treasury operations, M&A valuation and risk management. As
president of BASC, Wentworth will be responsible for providing centralized
support functions for financial transaction processing and payroll accounting.
"Lynn's proven leadership abilities, combined with her broad range of knowledge
of the company and experience in a number of positions, will be extremely
valuable as she assumes responsibility for treasury and affiliate transactions,"
said Ron Dykes, chief financial officer for BellSouth.
Wentworth has held a variety of positions across the company since joining
BellSouth in 1985, including tax, strategic planning, investor relations and
financial planning. In addition, her experience includes financial and
operational leadership positions in BellSouth Cellular, BellSouth Long Distance,
and Georgia Operations. Prior to joining BellSouth, Lynn held various tax and
audit positions in public accounting.
Wentworth will replace Linda Harty, who is resigning from BellSouth effective
June 30, 2003. Harty will join RTM Restaurant Group of Atlanta, the nation's
largest restaurant franchise company, as Senior Vice President and CFO.
