Directors' Notification of Dealing in Shares

The company wishes to announce that it became aware on 15th August 2000 that Mr
J Martin (Chief Executive) and Mr T J Kowalski (Finance Director) technically
became beneficially interested on 14th August 2000 in 105,138 ordinary shares of
10p each in the company, by virtue of the N Brown Group Qualifying Employee
Share Ownership Trust ('the QUEST') being allotted such shares at 261.5p each,
and the directors being potential beneficiaries under the QUEST.
