Purchase of Own Securities

The Company announces that it has today repurchased 200,000 Ordinary 25p
Shares, (representing 0.31% of the issued class of capital), at the price of
413p per Ordinary Share, for cancellation.

This is the first repurchase made as part of the share buy-back programme
approved by shareholders on 18th March 1999.
