The Brunner Investment Trust PLC announces that on 11th January 2002 it
re-purchased 40,000 Ordinary 25p Shares, (representing 0.06% of the issued
class of capital), at 361p per Ordinary Share, for cancellation.

Settlement and cancellation of the re-purchased 40,000 Ordinary Shares is due
on 16th January 2002 when the issued share capital of the Trust will fall to
59,723,416 Ordinary 25p Shares.
