The Brunner Investment Trust PLC announces that on 17th January 2002 it
re-purchased 395,000 Ordinary 25p Shares, (representing 0.66% of the issued
class of capital), at 363p per Ordinary Share, for cancellation.

Settlement and cancellation of the re-purchased 395,000 Ordinary Shares is due
on 22nd January 2002 when the issued share capital of the Trust will fall to
59,253,416 Ordinary 25p Shares.
