3G Licence

British Telecommunications PLC 24 July 2000 BT WINS 3G LICENCE IN THE NETHERLANDS BT today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Telfort has been awarded a third generation mobile licence by the Dutch government for 947 million guilders (£263 million). Peter Erskine, chief executive of BT Wireless, said: 'We are delighted to have won a 3G licence in the Netherlands which adds to our successes in the UK, Japan and Spain. '3G is the future of mobile and we are at the forefront. We are determined to be first with world class products that others will find difficult to match.'
