Alfred Mockett to leave BT

British Telecommunications PLC 14 September 2001 NR0157 September 14, 2001 ALFRED MOCKETT TO LEAVE BT IGNITE TO TAKE UP NEW POST IN USA BT today announced that Alfred Mockett, CEO of BT Ignite, will be leaving the company at the end of November to take up a position as Chairman and CEO of a US based public company. BT Ignite has established a European focus and Mr Mockett, a US citizen, having overseen the launch and successful first year of operation of the company, is to return to work in North America where his family is resident. The parting is amicable and Mr Mockett's successor will be Andy Green, currently CEO of BTopenworld. Andy will continue to manage BTopenworld until November. His successor will be announced in due course. Sir Peter Bonfield, chief executive officer of BT plc, said : 'Alfred has served BT well over ten years in a range of senior executive positions. This is a great opportunity and we wish him well in his new endeavours. 'Andy has held senior roles across the range of BT's businesses and been a member of the BT Executive Committee since 1995.
