                     ADVISERS TO BT
                            
British Telecommunications plc ('BT') today confirmed
that it has appointed ABN AMRO Rothschild and Morgan
Stanley Dean Witter to advise it on the Initial Public
Offering of Yell, its international directories and e-
commerce business.

     Yell operates in the classified advertising market
through both printed and electronic media, including the
Yellow Pages directories, Yell.com, Talking Pages, and
Yellow Book in the US.  BT announced on April 13, 2000,
that it intended to list Yell by the end of the year.
