                BT CONFIRMS FULL DEMERGER OF YELL IS AN OPTION



BT today confirmed that it was reviewing its options for Yell, its
international directories and e-commerce subsidiary.

     A BT spokesman said its proposed listing of up to 25 per cent of Yell has
been affected by the continuing OFT review. The spokesman added: 'We are
therefore continuing to review all the options in relation to Yell. One option
would be a full demerger of the business, although such an option would be
subject to the resolution of certain technical issues such as taxation.'

     BT said that a full announcement would be made as soon as practicable.
