NOTIFICATION OF RESULT OF POLL

At the Annual General Meeting of British Telecommunications
plc which was held on 14 July 1999, a poll was held on the following
resolutions:-


RESOLUTION 4

THAT Dr Iain Anderson be re-elected as a director.

The result of the poll is as follows:

     Votes FOR the resolution:          2,792,556,312

     Votes AGAINST the resolution:      7,476,566

And accordingly, Resolution 4 has been carried.


RESOLUTION 6

THAT Robert Brace be re-elected as a director.

The result of the poll is as follows:

     Votes FOR the resolution:          2,796,770,579

     Votes AGAINST the resolution:      3,446,872

And accordingly, Resolution 6 has been carried.


RESOLUTION 8

THAT Sir John Weston be elected as a director.

The result of the poll is as follows:

     Votes FOR the resolution:          2,793,567,272

     Votes AGAINST the resolution:      6,257,383

And accordingly, Resolution 8 has been carried.
