Cairn appoints three new independent Directors
Dublin/London, 7 February 2019: Cairn Homes plc ("Cairn", the "Company" or the "Group") (Euronext Dublin/LSE: CRN), the leading Irish homebuilding company, today announces changes to the composition of its Board comprising of the appointment of three new independent non-executive Directors, Ms. Jayne McGivern, Ms. Linda Hickey and Mr. David O'Beirne.
Board Appointments
The Board of Cairn, led by the Nomination Committee and assisted by Korn Ferry, an external recruitment and advisory company, engaged in a process to review the structure, composition and capability of the Board to ensure that Cairn has the right mix of skills and experience at Board level to match its scale, ambition and growth objectives. As a result of this process, three new Directors have been appointed to the Group's Board. Ms. Jayne McGivern and Mr. David O'Beirne will join the Board effective 1 March 2019. Ms. Linda Hickey will join the Board upon her retirement from Goodbody Stockbrokers at a date to be confirmed in April 2019.
Jayne McGivern
Jayne McGivern is currently global EVP of Development and Construction for Madison Square Garden plc, where she is responsible for overseeing all new venue development projects in addition to management of the Company's planned MSG Sphere venues in Las Vegas and London. Her former roles include Divisional Managing Director at Redrow plc, CEO of the European Division of Multiplex plc and Managing Director of Anschutz Entertainment Group in London, during its acquisition and redevelopment of the O2. She most recently led her own private property investment vehicle, Red Grouse. Jayne's current roles include serving as a non-executive member of the board of Skanska AB and as Board Chair of the UK Ministry of Defence Infrastructure Organisation. Ms. McGivern is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Linda Hickey
Linda Hickey is currently Head of Corporate Broking at Goodbody Stockbrokers, where she has worked since 2004, and from which she will be retiring in April 2019. Previously, she worked at NCB Stockbrokers and Merrill Lynch. Linda has been, and continues to be, an independent non-executive Director at Kingspan Group plc since 2013 and is currently Chair of the Board of The Irish Blood Transfusion Service. Linda brings significant capital markets and corporate governance expertise across many sectors, including real estate, to the Board.
David O'Beirne
David O'Beirne is a former Managing Partner of the international law firm Eversheds Sutherland, Dublin, is also a former Head of the firm's Corporate and Commercial Department and is currently a Partner in its Corporate & Commercial Department, where his primary practice areas have been, and continue to be, mergers, acquisitions, disposals, private equity investments, corporate restructurings and corporate reorganisations. David brings to the Board almost 40 years' experience in advising on significant domestic and international transactions alongside a depth of expertise in commercial and company law. David does not hold, and has not in the past 5 years held, a directorship in any other publicly quoted company.
Chief Commercial Officer (MD Student Accommodation) leaving the Company
Kevin Stanley, Chief Commercial Officer of Cairn, is to leave the Company on 1 March 2019. Kevin has been with Cairn since before the successful IPO and over the last 4 years, the Company has benefited from his deep industry expertise. Working closely with our CEO, Kevin supported the identification and successful acquisition of Cairn's land bank. Kevin's other contributions to the Company's formative years included the recruitment and development of Cairn's Planning & Design team and its brand positioning and marketing strategies. Kevin was also MD of Cairn's Student Accommodation business which yielded significant value for shareholders, part of which was realised with our disposals in 2018.
