Canadian General Investments: Investment Update - Unaudited


TORONTO, CANADA - Canadian General Investments, Limited (CGI) reports on an
unaudited basis that its diluted net asset value per share (NAV) at January 31,
2007 was $31.38, resulting in year-to-date and 12-month NAV returns, with
dividends reinvested, of 0.2% and 18.1%, respectively. This compares with the
1.2% and 11.8% returns of the benchmark S&P/TSX Composite Index on a total
return basis for the same periods.


The closing price for CGI's common shares at January 31 was $27.50, resulting in
year-to-date and 12-month market returns with dividends reinvested of 0.4% and
12.8%, respectively.


The sector weightings of CGI's investment portfolio at market as of January 31,
2007 were as follows:
