CAPITA PREFERRED PARTNER IN MAJOR SERVICE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME FOR NORTH EAST
LINCOLNSHIRE COUNCIL
A new partnership between North East Lincolnshire Council and The Capita Group
Plc, aimed at improving council services and cutting costs, has received
approval from the council's cabinet. The partnership is expected to deliver
significant savings to the council. The total value of the partnership to Capita
will be in the region of £175 million over 12 years, subject to final
negotiations.
The two organisations will work together to improve council services,
particularly in the fields of business transformation and property regeneration.
A key aspect of the proposal is the creation of a new joint venture company,
involving the secondment of 350 council staff into the new organisation.
Commenting on the cabinet's decision, Paul Pindar, Chief Executive Officer of
the Capita Group said: 'We are delighted Capita will be working with this
innovative council, improving customer services in a cost effective manner. With
our strong track record of service transformation, the prospects for this
partnership are positive for North East Lincolnshire Council, its citizens and
Capita.'
Councillor Andrew de Freitas, leader of the Council, said: 'The partnership will
make council services more customer-friendly and streamlined, allowing most
residents' requests to be dealt with at a single 'one stop shop' point rather
than being passed to different departments. And new information management
systems will create a more cohesive approach, allowing services to be developed
around the specific needs of those who live and work in the community. The
contract will also speed up the delivery of the council's regeneration strategy,
including key development programs such as the Building Schools For The Future
scheme. And further savings in money and time would be realised by a radical
shake-up of the council's accommodation and working arrangements.'
