Ten year contract signed

Capita Group PLC 3 August 2000 10 year contract signed with Criminal Records Bureau The Capita Group Plc ('Capita'), is pleased to announce that it has today signed a contract with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) for the development of its Information Systems infrastructure and ten- year operation. The contract will be worth around £400 million over 10 years. This follows the announcement made on 20th July 2000 that Capita had been selected by the CRB as preferred bidder for this contract. The CRB is being established by the Home Office to improve access to criminal record checks for employment related purposes. In particular it will support safer recruitment to protect children and vulnerable adults against those who might wish to harm them. Capita will be responsible for developing IT systems, processing applications and issuing certificates. The CRB will be based on Merseyside and will create up to 1000 new jobs. It will start issuing the highest level of certificates next Summer.
