                  CAIRN ENERGY PLC ('Cairn' or 'the Company')

Application has been made to the UK Listing Authority for the listing of, and to
the London Stock Exchange for the Admission of 7,147 Ordinary Shares of 10 pence
each fully paid in the Company, ranking pari passu with the existing ordinary
shares, to the Official List.

These shares will be issued pursuant to the exercise of options under the
Company's 2003 Approved Share Option Plan.
