On 3 May 2002, Cairn was notified by Fidelity International Limited that it and
its direct and indirect subsidiaries had an interest in 15,649,637 Ordinary
Shares of 10 pence each in Cairn, representing 10.52% of Cairn's current issued
ordinary share capital.
