Cairn was notified on 22 January 2007 by Baillie Gifford & Co. on behalf of
itself and its subsidiaries that they had  an interest in 10,915,810 ordinary
shares of 10 pence each in Cairn in aggregate, representing approximately 6.81%
of  Cairn's current issued ordinary share capital.
