Cairn was notified on 7 March 2007 by F&C Asset Management plc on behalf of 
itself and its subsidiaries that they had an interest in 11,756,561 ordinary
shares of 10 pence each in Cairn in aggregate, representing approximately 7.33%
of Cairn's current issued ordinary share capital.
