CARCLO PLC
AGM STATEMENT
The following statement was made to shareholders at the
company's Annual General Meeting today:
'The group is benefiting from steady demand and improving
profitability following last year's extensive
rationalisation programme. This programme is now largely
complete.
'Demand in the first half has been particularly
encouraging in our US plastics business and in card
clothing, and this has compensated for a muted start in
UK plastics. Across the group new business enquiries are
at much higher levels than at this time last year. Most
of the new work we are winning is based on our
international capabilities in both technical plastics and
card clothing.
'Although economic uncertainties persist, we are
confident that our second half will benefit from
improving productivity and are hopeful that new contracts
in 2003 will restore the positive momentum of the group.'
