                                  BOARD CHANGE


Carclo plc ('Carclo') announces today that Chris Mawe, Finance Director has
submitted his resignation and will leave the company on 1st March 2004.

Ian Williamson, Chief Executive of Carclo, commented 'Chris joined the company
in September 1999 and has made an excellent contribution to the development of
Carclo over the last four years. Chris will be joining UK Coal as Finance
Director and we wish him well in his future career.

We have initiated a search for a replacement for Chris and expect to make an
appointment early in the new year.'
