 CARCLO SELLS ITS WIRE ROPE BUSINESS IN NEW ZEALAND FOR
                        £637,000

Carclo plc ('Carclo' or 'the Group') announces that on 30
June 2000, it sold its New Zealand wire rope distribution
business, John Shaw (NZ) Limited, to three private
investors. The total consideration for the sale was
$NZ2,050,000 (£637,000), all of which was satisfied in
cash. As at 31 March 2000, John Shaw (NZ) Limited had net
assets of $NZ 1,400,000 (£435,000).

The disposal will not have a significant impact on the
Group's profitability, whilst the proceeds will reduce
its borrowings.
