Carillion led consortium signs £500 million BT facilities management contract
Monteray - a company 51 per cent owned and led by Carillion - has concluded
negotiations with BT and signed the UK's biggest ever private sector
facilities management contract, worth around £500 million over five years.
Monteray had previously been selected by BT as its preferred supplier for
facilities management services to over 8,500 BT buildings ranging from large
offices and computer centres to transport workshops and telephone exchanges.
The services to be provided range from support services for cleaning and
catering to maintenance of the fabric of buildings and external ground
maintenance.
The BT programme for outsourcing of facilities management is to be delivered
through a two-tier service model, based on an Enabling Organisation and eight
Regional Service Providers (RSPs).
Mobilisation of the Regional Service Providers is nearing completion and
Monteray is on target for the full service delivery to BT to begin on 1 April
2001.
Note to editors
Monteray was formed by stakeholders Carillion plc (51 per cent), Balfour
Beatty's Haden Building Management Limited (24.5 per cent) and Reliance
Integrated Services (24.5 per cent).
