Carillion wins new work worth up to £600 million
Carillion, the business and construction services company, has secured new
contracts and preferred provider positions worth up to £600 million.
In line with Carillion's strategy, the new work expands the Group's Business
Services activities and further strengthens the quality of its Construction
Services portfolio with higher added value contracts for long-term key
customers.
Carillion Services, a leading provider of non-clinical support services to the
NHS, has won a £50 million, seven-year contract to supply services to hospitals
in Lincolnshire. The contract, which has been awarded by the Northern
Lincolnshire and Goole Hospitals NHS Trust, is one of the largest of its type
awarded in the NHS.
In the United Arab Emirates, where the Group has a well established
International Business, Carillion's partner Al Futtaim has announced that
Carillion is the preferred provider of construction services for the Dubai
Festival City development, where the first phase, a mixed development of high
quality residential, retail and recreational facilities, valued at around £350
million, is due to commence later this year.
Construction services specialist, Crown House Engineering, has been selected by
BAA to be one of only two companies to supply the airport owners with building
services skills at its seven airports around the UK. The agreement will last for
up to 10 years and provide Crown House Engineering with work valued at around
£200 million, excluding potential work on Terminal 5.
Carillion Building, has been appointed preferred provider by the Ministry of
Defence for a £43 million modernisation of Lucknow Barracks, at Tidworth, in
Hampshire. As a PRIME contractor, Carillion's responsibilities will include the
selection of the supply chain and management, design co-ordination, planning and
cost control.
Additional contracts for Carillion Building include the construction of around
275 apartments alongside the River Irwell in Manchester. This £43 million
project for Countryside Properties is due for completion in 2004. The company
has also been appointed by Argent as framework contractor for a £50 million
mixed use development in Manchester.
Carillion chief executive John McDonough said, 'The good progress we have made
in the first half of the year has continued with these recent successes, which
underline the success of our strategy for growing good quality earnings. We
expect our main markets to continue to offer good opportunities for us to make
further progress in the second half of the year.'
