CARR'S MILLING INDUSTRIES PLC
CHAIRMAN'S AGM STATEMENT RE CURRENT TRADING AND PROSPECTS
'Board confident of further progress'
At the AGM of Carr's, the agriculture, food and engineering group, in Carlisle
this morning, the Chairman, David Newton, will shortly make the following
statement:
'In our preliminary announcement of the 2001/2002 results on 11 November 2002,
we referred to a good start to the current financial year ending 30 August 2003.
This has been maintained, due in the most part to strong sales of our low
moisture feed blocks, particularly in the US, reflecting the US Government's
Cattle Feed Drought Assistance Programme, which is not expected to be a
recurring factor, but also in the UK and Continental Europe.
Largely as a result of these strong sales, profit in the first four months is
substantially ahead of both last year's actual and this year's budgeted numbers,
and this is likely to be the case at the half year.
Although the markets in which we operate continue to be challenging, the Board
remain confident that the current year will be another year of progress.'

in the home by the addition of just water.
The Engineering Division, based in Carlisle, comprises Bendalls (a high
integrity welder), Keytor (a mechanical & electrical engineer) and Hinds (a
commercial vehicle body building business). Engineering is much the smallest
