Board Changes
Carr's, the Cumbria-based agriculture, food and engineering group, announces
that Lord Inglewood MA (Cantab), Barrister, MRICS, DL, FSA, aged 54, a
non-executive Director since September 2004, has been appointed Chairman in
succession to David Newton, who retired due to illness earlier this year. In
addition, Alistair Wannop BSc, ARASE, aged 43, has been appointed a
non-executive Director, bringing the number of non-executive Directors to three.
Richard Inglewood
* Richard Inglewood was a Conservative member of the European Parliament for
10 years, from 1989 to 1994 for Cumbria and North Lancashire and from 1999
to July 2004 for North West England.
* A member of the House of Lords since 1989, from 1995 to 1997 he was
Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department of National
Heritage (Minister for Broadcasting and Tourism) and since 1999 he has been
an elected hereditary peer.
* He has been Chairman of the Reviewing Committee on the Export of Works of
Art since 2003.
* He has been a non-executive Director of CN Group Limited (local media) in
Cumbria since 1997 (Chairman since 2002).
* His private interests in Cumbria include farming dairy and beef cattle,
sheep and arable.
Alistair Wannop
• Alistair Wannop holds a BSc (Hons) in Agriculture and Food Marketing
from Newcastle University.
•He farms 1,000 acres in Cumbria - a mixture of dairy, beef and arable.
•He is currently a Director of English Food and Farming Partnership (a
Government-backed body established to encourage greater co-operation within
the food chain), of Rural Regeneration Cumbria (with special responsibility
for agriculture) and of Cumbria Vision (with responsibility for rural
issues).
•Previously, he has been County Chairman of the NFU, as well as County
Milk Delegate to NFU Headquarters, and Chairman of the Minister of
Agriculture's regional advisory panel.
•There are no details to be disclosed pursuant to paragraphs 9.6.13 (1)-(6)
of the Listing Rules of the UK Listing Authority.
•Welcoming Alistair Wannop to the Board, Chris Holmes, Chief Executive of
Carr's, stated...'Alistair Wannop's appointment as a non-executive Director
brings to the Carr's Board a major figure in Cumbrian agriculture at a time
when Carr's has recently expanded its animal feed business through the
acquisition of W&J Pye. Alistair also has expertise in the food area, where
last year Carr's more than doubled its flour business through the Meneba
(UK) acquisition.'
