                                Trading Update



The Board of Carr's Milling, the Carlisle based agriculture, food and
engineering business, announces that, as a result of stronger than expected
trading, towards the end of the Company's financial year, in its agriculture
division, particularly in mainland Europe and the US, it expects Carr's
Milling's results for the year to 1 September 2001 to be slightly ahead of
market expectations.



Carr's Milling will announce its preliminary results for the year to 1
September 2001 on Monday 12 November 2001.
