Newsplayer Acquires the Trade and Assets of Footage.Net
Newsplayer Group plc (NPG), the new media group, today announces the
acquisition of the trade and assets of Footage.Net, a leading stock footage
portal, from eMotion Inc, based in Vienna, Virginia, USA. The acquisition has
been made through NPG's wholly owned subsidiary NPG Inc (incorporated in
Delaware, USA) for the consideration of US$500,000 in cash.
The acquisition includes fixed assets and accounts receivable totalling
US$150,000 and liabilities totalling US$5,000. Sales for Footage.Net for the
year ended 31 December 2000 were US$191,000.
Footage.Net manages the databases of many of the world's leading stock footage
libraries, including those of ABC News, CNN, Action Sports and National
Geographic, and makes them available to researchers and programme makers
globally who are seeking to license clips for inclusion in a television or film
production. NPG specialises in maximising the revenue potential in television
and cinema content through the application of interactive technology.
Chief Executive Paul Duffen commented: 'NPG focuses on two main sectors of the
media industry; the building of video-on-demand channels of compelling
interactive content and the on-line syndication of stock footage. The
acquisition of Footage.Net is a significant step towards NPG's strategy to take
a leading role in the stock footage industry. We are delighted with this
acquisition, our first in the US, and its significance in our plans for the
American market for the coming year.'
