Agreement signed with 10 London Professional Football Clubs' Community Schemes
Milestone, the AIM quoted (AIM: MSG) provider of digital media and technology solutions, is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Legal Agreement ("Agreement") with ten leading London professional football clubs' community trust schemes to deliver a pan London community football tournament. This agreement follows the announcement of the Memorandum of Understanding announced on 11 March 2013.
These clubs are:
AFC Wimbledon Community Football Scheme
Barnet FC Community Trust
Brentford FC Community Sports Trust
Charlton Athletic Community Trust
Crystal Palace FC Foundation
Dagenham & Redbridge FC Community Trust
Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme
Millwall Community Scheme
Queens Park Rangers in the Community Trust
Watford FC's Community Sports and Education Trust
This tournament is the first of a number of physical events designed to support the launch of the Passion Project, which was announced on 29January 2013.
The competition timing and format has been created in conjunction with a working group from the community schemes of Charlton, Brentford and Crystal Palace. The competition is anticipated to engage with 3,200 young people; each Borough having a minimum entry level of 100 persons.
The tournament will be organised in two parts - first, each of London's 32 Boroughs will hold a knock out competition to find the Borough Champion. These winning teams will then go forward to take part in the competition final which is to be held in February 2014 at the London Soccerdome.
The competition registration process uses a digital process linked to the Passion Projects portal helping to seed the programmes initial on-line audience.
The Portal uses digital media and technology to aggregate audiences and will work in collaboration with a number of key strategic partners who share a common purpose of helping young people become work ready and find employment.
The Passion Projects focus is to help create pathways to employment, raise educational standards, promote community cohesion, reduce crime, and encourage healthy living.
Milestone's creative team is led by Darren Groucutt who heads the company's digital media company Relative, and Ximo Peris who leads the Youth Engagement aspect of the Passion Project for the Milestone Foundation as Youth Development Director.
Prior to joining Milestone both were engaged by Crystal CG as lead creative directors on the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic games.
Deborah White, CEO Milestone commented:
'We are delighted that the project has the support of the clubs - they are an important part of London's communities delivering valuable work beyond simply the playing of football. In London alone they engage with almost 2.6 million young people a year so having them as partners for our pilot event is a perfect start to the project.'
