Centaur Media plc acquires leading supply chain event
March 19th 2007: Centaur Media plc (Centaur), the specialist business
publishing, information and events group, has acquired The Awareness Group Ltd
(Awareness) for an undisclosed sum. Awareness is primarily responsible for
Extended Supply Chain (ESC) - a major logistics and supply chain conference
whose fifth annual event takes place in London at the end of March.
Awareness launched ESC in 2003 and the event attracts sponsors and delegates
from across Europe. It fits with Centaur's other interests in the logistics and
supply chain community, which include the monthly magazines Logistics Manager
and Supply Chain Standard, plus the three Logistics Link regional exhibitions.
Centaur also publishes related web sites and runs the leading awards event in
the sector.
The operations will be relocated to Centaur's offices, and Awareness founders
and directors Jonathan Bennett and Christopher Watt will join Centaur.
Geoff Wilmot, Chief Executive of Centaur, said: "Awareness will complement our
expanding logistics and supply chain publishing activities and exhibitions and
we are delighted to welcome Jonathan and Christopher to Centaur. We are
confident that they will be able to build further on the success that they have
achieved with Extended Supply Chain.
"Centaur's strategy is to build on its strength in the markets in which it
already operates, as well as looking for other communities where it can apply
its knowledge and expertise. This latest acquisition reflects the successful
continuation of that strategy."
Jonathan Bennett said: "This is a great opportunity to further develop The
Awareness Group's business as part of a larger organisation. Interest in the
logistics and supply chain market has grown significantly in recent years and we
look forward to working at Centaur to continue the growth of the events."
The value of the gross assets of The Awareness Group is £0.2m.
