                     APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR


The Board of Centaur Holdings Plc is pleased to announce the appointment of
Alton Irby as a non-executive director with effect from 20 September 2005.

Alton is a founding partner of Tricorn Partners LLP, a private investment
banking partnership set up in 2003 that specialises in corporate financial
advice. Prior to that he gained broad corporate experience from his
directorships at Sedgwick plc, J.O. Hambro Magan Irby Holdings and Hawkpoint
Partners Ltd (formerly NatWest Markets Global Corporate Advisory Ltd).

Centaur Holdings Plc Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Graham Sherren, said:
'We are delighted to welcome Alton to the Board of Centaur Holdings Plc. His
arrival will bring to four the number of non-executive directors on Centaur's
Board, and his wealth of transactional experience will be of great value.'

In addition to the current directorship listed above, Alton held directorships
at the following publicly quoted companies within the last five years. Both of
these are current directorships.
