Centrica Strengthens Home Services

Centrica plc today announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire
Trolhurst Limited, a prominent provider of gas appliance servicing and central
heating installation in Britain.

The consideration of £8.5 million will be satisfied by the issue of unsecured
loan notes in GB Gas Holdings Limited, a Centrica group company and payment in
cash.

The acquisition will further strengthen the organisation's British Gas
Services business, helping to support its growing customer base in maintenance
and breakdown cover and home heating installation.

Trolhurst Limited employs around 450 staff (including 350 engineers) based in
London, Glasgow, Newcastle and Shrewsbury. This will enable British Gas
Services to continue to build on its highly trained direct labour force.

Roger Wood, Centrica's Executive Director with responsibility for British Gas
Services said: 'We are extremely pleased to have been able to purchase an
established company such as Trolhurst Limited that enhances our Home Service
capability.'
