Long Term Incentive Scheme Awards
Centrica announces that on 2nd October 2000, conditional allocations of ordinary
shares in Centrica plc were made by the trustees of the Long Term Incentive
Scheme to a number of employees, including the following executive directors:

The base price from which performance will be measured is 208.68p (being the
average of the closing mid-market prices for Centrica plc for the period 2/10/99
to 1/10/00)
The percentage of the share award to eventually vest is dependent on meeting
performance criteria over a three or four year performance period commencing on
2nd October 2000. The performance criteria are based on the Company's total
shareholder return against that of the other companies within the FTSE 100.
The notional share awards shown above represent the maximum award possible if
all performance criteria are met at the end of the relevant performance period.
At the conclusion of the performance period any shares transferable to
executives will be retained by the trustees for a further two year retention
period.
