Centrica announces strategic alliance between AA and The First Resort


Centrica has announced today that the AA has entered into a strategic alliance
with The First Resort Limited, one of the UK's leading online travel agents,
co-owned by netdecisions, Thomson Travel Group and Channel 5.


The AA has agreed to pay £4m for an equity interest in the business. This
consolidates a relationship going back to the foundation last year of The
First Resort's website, which incorporates AA travel guides. As part of the
agreement, the AA will provide The First Resort with additional branded
content.


The AA will also provide The First Resort with promotional channels such as
the AA magazine. The First Resort is appointed the exclusive supplier of
air-inclusive overseas package holidays to the AA's new website, theAA.com.


Launched in April 2000, The First Resort offers a choice of over 13 million
holidays from the major tour operators as well as flights, insurance and car
hire. Customers can choose via the website, or by calling the 100 strong team
of travel agents directly.
