On  23rd  April  1999, the Board of The  Character  Group
issued  a  statement  advising that the  Company  was  in
preliminary discussions which may or may not lead to  the
Group  making  a  substantial acquisition.   At  present,
these discussions are not being progressed further.

Although  it  is  too  early to comment  on  the  Group's
results  for  the  year  ended  31st  August  1999,   the
Directors believe that trading continues to be   in  line
with market expectations.

It  is  anticipated that the Group's Preliminary  Results
for the year ended 31st August 1999 will be announced  on
30th November 1999.
