                            The Character Group plc


The Board of The Character Group plc has noted today's rise in the Company's
share price.

The Group's preliminary results for the year ended 31 August 2002, which will be
announced on Tuesday 3 December, are likely to be comfortably ahead of market
expectations.

Current trading continues to be encouraging.

The analysts' presentation for the preliminary results will be held at Citigate
Dewe Rogerson, 26 Finsbury Square, EC2 at 9am on 3 December.
